Dr. Dixon was born in Canada and grew up in Santa Monica where he attended high school and received a scholarship to play college football. He graduated from UCLA in 1968. In the American Peace Corps, 1968-1970, he taught physical and biological sciences in India at the Andhra Pradesh, College of Education. After receiving his Dental Degree from UCLA, Dr. Dixon completed a three-year fellowship and residency in Medical Genetics and Pediatric Dentistry at UCLA-Harbor General Hospital. He is a graduate of the Straight Wire Orthodontic Program and UCLA's Esthetic Dentistry mini-residency. The founding partner of PDO Specialists, Dr. Dixon began his dental career as a solo practitioner in 1979. He served as a lecturer and attending dentist at the UCLA Graduate Pediatric Dental Program for ten years. He was a member of the UCLA, Rady’s Children’s Hospital and UCSD’s Cleft Palate teams, the Children's Hospital trauma team, and the volunteer Dental Director of the La Paz, Baja California Craniofacial Interdisciplinary Program. He is a Past Chairman of the Dental Society’s Children’s Dental Health Month and Past President of the San Diego Chapter of American Society of Dentistry for Children. Gordon and wife, Cathie have three children and five grandchildren. When not caring for his patients, Dr. Dixon enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, playing baseball and gardening.
Dr. Martin Thurston was born in Miami Beach and grew up in Los Angeles. He graduated from UCSD and received his Dental Degree at UCSF in 1983. Dr. Thurston completed his Orthodontic Residency and Masters in Oral Biology at UCLA in 1985. Moving to San Diego, he joined Dr. Dixon’s practice in 1985. Dr. Thurston is a member of the ADA, CDA, American Association of Orthodontics, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, the San Diego Academy of Orthodontics. Dr. Thurston and Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Lori Good, are proud parents of two talented daughters, Melissa and Jenna. When not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Thurston enjoys swimming, biking, running, gardening, playing the piano, and spending time with his family. He is interested in nutrition and body fitness/joint mechanics, giving him an additional perspective when treating his orthodontic and TMJ patients.
Dr. Lam was born in Saigon, Vietnam and immigrated to the Los Angeles area in 1980 where she attended high school. At USC she received dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Finance in 1994 and 1995, respectively. Dr. Lam attended Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago where she developed her passion for Pediatric Dentistry during an externship treating children of migrant farm workers in Boulder, Colorado. Dr. Lam received her specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from USC. She is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the ADA and CDA. Dr. Lam resides in Poway with her husband, Albert Lin, a local practicing oral maxillofacial surgeon. They are proud parents of their children Ashton and Mila. Outside of work, Dr. Lam is occupied with her active little ones and enjoys cooking and traveling whenever possible.
Dr. Michael Amodeo was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Rancho Bernardo. After graduating from Poway High School, he obtained a degree in Biology at U.C. Santa Barbara. Dr. Amodeo earned his Dental Degree and completed his Pediatric Dental Residency at UCLA where he was Chief Resident and a member of Craniofacial Anomalies and Cleft Palate Team. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the ADA and CDA. Dr. Amodeo returned to Rancho Bernardo with his bride, Rachela, whom he met at UCSB. The Amodeos have three boys, Nico, Jack, and Mikey. Michael feels privileged to be back in Rancho Bernardo serving his hometown community. He enjoys time with his family and is an avid outdoorsman. He is an accomplished chef and is famous for his prize winning Lasagna.
A California native, Dr. Michael Singer received degrees in Biological and Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University and graduated with honors from UC San Francisco Dental School. After completing a General Practice Residency at the La Jolla Veterans Hospital, Dr. Singer practiced general dentistry in San Diego and at the US Army’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Leaving Germany, he continued his dental education, accepting a position in the prestigious, three-year Advanced Prosthodontics Residency at UC San Francisco. Dr. Singer introduced a state-of-the-art digital design and acquisition system while Chief Resident at the San Francisco program. The use of this emerging technology was vital in improving efficiency and enhancing the care of patients undergoing complex esthetic and functional rehabilitation. Before joining PDOS, Dr. Singer associated in two Bay Area Prosthodontic practices where he successfully guided patients with challenging conditions to dental and oral health while enhancing their esthetics and personal well being. With his skill and kind and gentle nature, he instills confidence while treating his patients with care and in comfort. Michael and his wife, Stephanie, a math teacher, enjoy cycling and cooking together in their free time. They have two young children, Charlie and Phoebe.
Dr. Lori Good graduated in 1981 from UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and subsequently a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of California, San Francisco in 1985. She came to the San Diego region to care for patients at the Rincon Indian Reservation before attending USC, where she graduated with a degree in Pediatric Dentistry and a Masters Degree in Craniofacial Biology. Dr. Good is on staff at Rady’s Children's Hospital. She coordinates our practice’s efforts to administer state-of-the-art care to patients with special needs. Dr. Good is married to our Orthodontist, Dr. Martin Thurston. They have two talented daughters, Melissa and Jenna, who are attending college in California. When not caring for her patients and spending time with her family, Dr. Good, an avid reader, also enjoys cycling and jogging. She chairs the Social Action Committee at her synagogue along with numerous other volunteer efforts.
Dr. Jason Morris grew up in Orange County and attended Fountain Valley High School. He graduated with honors from USC School of Dentistry in 2008 and Baylor University’s prestigious orthodontic specialty program in 2015. From 2008 and 2012, Dr. Morris served as a general dentist in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. While on active duty, Dr. Morris was Clinical Director at Camp Pendleton. He served a tour of duty as Officer in Charge at forward operating base Camp Dwyer while deployed to Afghanistan. A skilled clinical professional, Dr. Morris is also dedicated to research and the advancement of modern orthodontics. His most recent article was published in the acclaimed American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics. Dr. Morris practiced orthodontics in the San Diego area for two years prior to joining our practice. He and his wife Jennifer live in Penasquitos with their two young children, Katelyn and Jack. Dr. Morris is a devoted family man and an active outdoorsman, enjoying basketball, surfing and biking.
Dr. Brittany Fischer, a board certified specialist, graduated Cum Laude from UCLA Dental School. She received her master's degree and completed her orthodontic training in 2016 at the University of Michigan. There, she gained extensive experience in the treatment of patients with craniofacial anomalies and those requiring surgery to facilitate a harmonious result. She has practiced in the San Diego area since graduation. Dr. Fischer was raised in Grand Haven, Michigan and wed her high school sweetheart in their hometown. When not practicing orthodontics, she enjoys runs on the beach with her dog, golf, soccer, volleyball, and skiing.
